I grabbed Love Sour Love as well as star spangled shadows, I have been looking forward to this book for months. That lister print looks awesome and I think I will end up breaking it down to frame a few.

Well its taken a while to release but this morning (nyc time) sees the release of FAILE's Love Sour Love book project and some prints through Paper Monster. This book features prints by some awesome artists including this contribution from Anthony and should be rather special....

Hey hey - sorry for lack of updates - life got a little hectic there for a while......
Well, never one to rest on his laurels Mr Lister's been hard at work at a new book project which is taking shape nicely and will feature a large stack of his drawings in colour as well as black and white (think of his monster children hangman sketchbook only better!). I'll be posting a load of preview images from the book over the next week or two and let you know when there's any news about a release. Enjoy
Re: Recent Work « Result #18 on Oct 8, 2009, 9:15am »
Hey hey - I recently stumbled across these very early etchings by Anthony at Austalia's Port Jackson Press. Apparently made a few years back they are some of Anthony's first etchings and very interesting - I particularly like Bold Guy and Bold Lass - not cheap but probably very fine quality. Also I think theres reference to some of the other red etchings they have in some of the Lister books (hangman etc.)....
Forum news & Cuprocking Vid « Result #20 on Sept 29, 2009, 5:43am »
Hey hey - you may have noticed that there are no longer links from the Banksy / Faile and other forums over to the Mr Lister forum as Silky's understandably slimming down the number of boards he runs.
This means we're going it alone which should be good in lots of ways but does mean - at least at first - we're likely to get less new passing traffic so please stay tuned and feel free spread the Mr Lister word to thems that might be interested. Also if you've got any other ideas about stuff you want to see feel free to drop me a pm
In the meantime its business as usual. Sit back and enjoy some quality footage of Lister and Uprock getting their cuprock on during the Sydney trip:

Hey hey - it looks like a stunning piece from Mr Lister is going in the Nimbus Vapor show coming up at New York's Opera Gallery from 1st October:
Curated by Ron English, the show features an amazing survey of graffiti including work by other artists such as Banksy, Basquiat, Futura and Crash and many others. More info at http://www.operagallery.com/ny/

I'm not sure - nothing's marked as sold but I dunno how great NIA are at updating their site. If you're interested in anything the best thing to do is give Marsea a call

Hey hey - welcome ag and no worries on the rants front - interesting stuff and good to hear other points of view. Isoe sure seems to have folk divided and I'm not convinced but am interested to see where his work goes as he definitely does have some skills....
Feel free to post up info about any other good art from oz or elsewhere
Re: Recent Work « Result #28 on Sept 18, 2009, 8:46pm »
Hey guys. I stumbled across this forum, seems like a good resource of AL stuff.
Was kinda confused by the criticism of Isoe though. I can certainly see elements of his work that has some similarities (large blocks of flat colour), however I feel that those of you saying he "copies" Lister are being quite ignorant. The thing that stands out for me in Isoe's work is his oil technique. The laboured facial details are the real highlight of his pieces, and certainly something that is not prominent in Lister's work.
And to bring Anthony Bennett and Wayde Owen in to this! Shame on you! Remember that Lister has only been showing with any real prominence the last 5 years, and certainly isn't the be all and end all of Australian contemporary painting!
Re: NEW IMAGE ART SHOW - OPENING SEPT 12 « Result #34 on Sept 8, 2009, 7:56am »
Hey hey - another new preview piece from the New Image show! It looks like its going to be a great exhibition:
More images to follow. And here's the bio for the show written by Joseph Allen Shea who curates Monster Children Gallery, writes and does a whole lot more:
Too Heavy For Superman
Joseph Allen Shea Anthony Lister's tireless approach to living is an unrelenting approach to art. What is evident in his work is the inability to remove a man's life from his creations.
Slouching for no borders (physical and metaphysical), as an artist he is omnipresent. Studio, gallery and museum shows aside, his name and imagery is on street corners worldwide accessing a massive audience by way of stickers, aerosol paint and all manner of markers.
His paintings, drawings, sculptures and happenings pull from his experiences as a youth in Australia and participating in the repetition as a father of two. Superheroes, skateboarding, graffiti, Australian gangster celebrities, television, jail birds, tattoos, the internet, pop and advertising resurface in his art practice.
Anthony Lister’s presentation of contemporary life shows the creases, the cracks and the putty, he doesn’t air brush over the humanity or euphemise what’s real. Recognizing the limitations of the human condition is as important as realizing ones goals. Losing is important for there lies options, the room for improvement, for sometimes ‘It’s [even] just too heavy for Superman to lift’1
With invitational residencies in London and New York, a mentorship under Max Gimblett, a CV as long as your arm (including shows at Elms Lester London, New Image Art L.A., Metro 5 Gallery Melbourne and K Gallery Italy), numerous awards and monographs, Anthony Lister’s renown among peers, curators and collectors is testament not just to his extreme productivity but the works exceptional potency. Resourceful with materials and the ‘canvas’ at hand, Anthony Lister has been called a ‘street’ artist, but he is more as an ‘all-moment’ artist. He is incessantly creating, and when he finds himself on the street he retains this mode of expression. His monographs disclose this when he presents as many lifestyle images as artworks. Images exist on web 2.0 interfaces such as flickr, blogs and youtube of the artist painting in his studio as a party riots around him - he is participating but persistently he is making marks and executing ideas that will remain past the hangover. Anthony Lister is living and he is translating real-life in real time. As the artist states "I am not trying to change the world... I am just reacting to a world that is trying to change me"

Re: Sydney Show - July 17th « Result #76 on Jul 19, 2009, 3:51pm »
Cheers for the report - sounds bizarre, confusing and entertaining! Personally I was expecting news about a massive random space covered in a stack of painting, graff and 3d work from Mr Lister though I guess he sure knows how to keep us guessing.....I wonder if there's anything more to come while he's in Sydney.......
And unless I'm mistaken that looks like Anthony's face projected onto the animatronic guy
Re: Sydney Show - July 17th « Result #77 on Jul 19, 2009, 12:47am »
ok, funny evening like I said, most interesting thing to happy for a while down here
I get off the train at Kings cross station and start walking up the road to 77 Darlinghurst Road (Porky's strip club! yippee!) anyway, as I get closer there are hundreds of people spilling off the footpath on to the street. I thought I was late and would have to queue for ages. anyway, I get there and the same as everyone else...battle my way through the crowd to the front and then inside.......
There is a huge canvas on my left (nice too) and people everywhere in what seems like a really small/cramped entrance/room about 4m x 4m. People on their way out past me have this really weird look on their face.. anyway, I push through a bit more and finally realise there is nowhere else to go, it's just a small room with one canvas! At the back is an animatronic person sitting on a chair watching TV with it's thingy in it's hand jerking off
that's it there was nothing more except the people everywhere wondering what the f**k had happened..
I wonder whether they got it or not? I think at least I did...

nice one mate, cheers. That's a great shot of the roof of World's End. I'll be hooking up with Ben when he gets back from the US in a day or two.
Would really love to get my hands on a nice colourful Lister.. I have plenty of prints and one original on board now, tried to get that canvas from the last show that had his work in Sydney but that bloody gallery just never answered or returned phone calls.

Mr Lister in Sydney:
I've just heard the show's called NO WIN SITCH and is open for ONE NIGHT ONLY - July 17th from 6 - 9 pm. The work is based around media saturation in Australia and parts of the installation are going to be unconventional and challenging. As to location - its not in a gallery and exact details will be released nearer the time on www.anthonylister.com. Sounds awesome!
GBH - hope all's well and I'll get back to you on the preview front
Re: Sydney Show - July 17th « Result #97 on Jul 3, 2009, 6:36am »
